Scientific paper on status quo in aerial mapping

Graz, Austria • July 15, 2025

The field of aerial mapping is evolving rapidly, driven by advancements in sensor technologies, hybrid systems, and increasingly automated data processing. A new scientific paper by Fabio Remondino et al. – presented at the European workshop on Calibration and Orientation in Remote Sensing (EuroCOW) in June 2025 in Poland – offers a critical review of the current status quo in aerial photogrammetric 3D mapping. The paper focuses on modern sensor trends, multi-camera systems, and the integration of photogrammetry with LiDAR.

We're proud to share that our colleague Marc Muick, Head of Applied Photogrammetry for Camera & Calibration, contributed to this publication, bringing his expertise to the discussion on recent developments in aerial 3D mapping.
