UltraCam Merlin 5.0
The new force in the sky.

High-precision nadir mapping.
Features

Taking aerial mission performance to the next level.
With a massive 37,500-pixel footprint across the flight strip, the Merlin delivers ground truth at scale. Three user-exchangeable lens kits provide unmatched flexibility, producing consistently sharp, high-fidelity data for orthophotos, elevation models, and AI-driven feature extraction.

More InformationOur largest footprint for true photogrammetric nadir mapping.
The Merlin's expansive 37,500 x 19,000 pixels footprint (RGB Bayer pattern and NIR) delivers a 20% increase in swath width compared to its predecessor and a 33% increase compared to the Eagle 4.1, enabling faster coverage of large areas with fewer flight lines.

Maximum airspace flexibility.
Adapt your missions with ease using the UltraCam Merlin 5.0’s user-exchangeable lens kits. Choose from three custom-designed focal lengths – 90 mm, 120 mm, and 150 mm – to optimize coverage and resolution across different altitudes, from low-level engineering surveys to high-altitude orthophotography. The quick, user-friendly lens exchange process can be performed in the field after training by Vexcel experts. Photogrammetric-grade accuracy is maintained through every lens exchange.

Next-generation sensor and optics.
The Merlin 5.0 features the advanced IMX811 CMOS sensor combined with our custom lenses. The vertical axis of the lenses remains at 0° tilt. This true nadir cone arrangement ensures uniform pixel sizes and consistent GSD across the entire image, without distortion or resampling. Unlike competitor systems, every pixel reflects the originally captured resolution for truly photogrammetric results.

Produce natural-looking RGB images.
Launching in spring 2026 alongside the new Merlin 5.0, our proprietary True Pixel Processing (TPP) pipeline introduces another powerful enhancement: finetuned contrast, sharpness and denoising based on flight altitude and ground sampling distance (GSD). Our photogrammetry experts have meticulously calibrated contrast and noise parameters on a large and diverse set of UltraCam imagery, enabling TPP to apply them adaptively based on flying height and GSD. This refinement further enhances Merlin’s high-resolution aerial imagery.

Prepare your business for tomorrow.
An upgrade path is available for previous UltraCam Merlin models to the newest version, helping you maximize your investment within our ecosystem of hardware – such as mounts, IPTs, and Transfer Units – and software.

Seamless photogrammetric workflow.
UltraMap provides a fully integrated photogrammetric processing environment, offering an end-to-end workflow with advanced automation, intuitive tools, and efficient data interaction. It enables the creation of high-quality DSMs, DTMs, orthoimages, and 3D data, while standard export formats such as TIFF, EO, and LAS ensure easy integration into third-party workflows. The high-resolution imagery also forms a superior foundation for advanced feature extraction and AI-driven analysis, enabling faster, automated insights from aerial data.

Smooth sailing.
The UltraMount dynamically stabilizes the UltraCam Merlin aerial camera in the aircraft during the exposure for the best possible image quality.

Always on track.
The UltraNav flight planning and direct georeferencing solution optimizes your UltraCam data collection for highest productivity, precision and cost-efficient operations.
