In this blogpost, we introduce you to Navigator, a key instrument in UltraMap Studio for organizing the production workflow from Ingest to 3D processing and exporting the final results. UltraMap Studio is the single application for the entire photogrammetric workflow. It provides the tools required to process, inspect and deliver products derived from UltraCam imagery and simplifies tracking, modifying or repeating any of your data processing workflow steps.

Navigator

The basic concept of UltraMap Studio consists of a tree of ongoing and completed operations, visible in the Navigator. Data is thereby automatically propagated from parent to child only. Completed operations with children are read only. These simple rules ensure consistency of the data within the project and at the same time allow facilitated traceability with all project settings from previous modules at a glance.

The workflow-based view shows all the processes in the project. It also summarizes the actual state of a workflow by grouping multiple completed operations into larger and more relevant stages.

Clicking on a stage reveals the operations that were required to complete a stage:

Right clicking on any operation entry provides the options that are available for advancing the workflow. As data grows through the workflow, more options become available in the Navigator.

As UltraMap offers unlimited number of front-end users, it helps to easily track which user has performed an action throughout the entire workflow. Preselected user settings are being stored automatically and can be set as default. To make repetition of similar workflows easier, workflow parameters can be customized and re-used for many dialogs. Read more about Dialog Templates here.

With UltraMap Studio, users gain a comprehensive overview of how their data is being built upon each other in order to rapidly generate high-quality imagery and 3D spatial data products.

In our next blogpost, we’ll talk about options to inspect and quality control your aerial images in UltraMap Studio. Stay tuned!
