This week, Vexcel Imaging is celebrating its 30th anniversary since its foundation in 1992! Over the next months, we will share the milestones and challenges of the last 30 years, let employees have their say and, as a special highlight, host an anniversary dinner at our User Group Meeting in Lisbon.
The story of Vexcel started with Professor Doctor Franz Leberl. Franz Leberl graduated in Geodesy from the Vienna University of Technology, specialized in the field of Photogrammetry, and habilitated at the Graz University of Technology with a thesis on satellite radar image analysis. After several international stations in his career, he returned to Graz and founded Vexcel Imaging GmbH in 1992.
Vexcel Imaging initially developed a high-precision digital film scanner, the “UltraScan 5000”, for scanning analog aerial images and successfully established itself worldwide. Around the year 2000, when digital image sensor technology became more prevalent, Vexcel Imaging began developing its first digital aerial camera system – the “UltraCam D”. Since then, the camera market has never been the same!
Today, the Vexcel Imaging camera portfolio is already in its 4th generation and is more successful than ever. Over the years, a lot has changed at Vexcel Imaging but some things have always remained the same: our mission to help our customers to create highest-quality photogrammetric data in the most efficient way using our best-in-class UltraCam aerial sensory systems.
We are excited to celebrate this special occasion with you, our valued employees, customers and partners, and we are already looking forward to the next 30 successful years!
Watch the video below to hear what Alexander Wiechert, CEO of Vexcel Imaging, has to say about the last 30 years of growing a small company with a big idea into a leader in the geospatial industry!
